WorldCause Foundation Provides Cerebal Palsy Patient with Custom Home Wheelchair Ramps

WorldCause Foundation is pleased to announce its most recent outreach initiative, providing 2 3 foot wheel chair ramps to Claudia Flay. Claudia, 38, lives in Miami, and although she suffers from Cerebal Palsy she maintains a positive outlook and never allows her current condition to bring her down.

WorldCause Foundation was first made aware of her situation by Ana Santana at CCDH, a nonprofit organization based in Miami dedicated to providing help to handicapped individuals throughout the South Florida region over the last 30 years.

Claudia was diagnosed with Cerebal Palsy but still has the ability to move around and live her life on independent terms. Her husband is the sole provider but was unable to afford both wheelchair ramps due to an insufficient income. Before both ramps were donated, Claudia explained that she often has trouble maneuvering in and out of the front door of her home.

Additionally, she had to move her walker up and over the steps leading into her doorway and a makeshift ramp provided little support. Although her Cerebal Palsy is not easy to deal with she continues to maintain a sense of independence on a daily basis, taking the time to keep her home in order and make trips to the store if she has the energy.

WorldCause Foundation contacted SurfMed medical supply company and with their help, a representative was sent out to take measurements for the ramps. Originally WorldCause had planned to donate a ramp for the front door but opted to donate an additional second ramp for the step inside Claudia's living room, providing her with ease of accessibility throughout the home.

Claudia also took time to show us an additional room within her home that she has converted into a workout area. In this room she takes time each day to stretch on a large mat donated by a local agency which she says helps tremendously with her current condition. Aside from her bad days Claudia is grateful for her new ramps and gives thanks to God for each new day she is blessed with.

WorldCause Foundation will continue to provide updates on Claudia's daily progress, and would like to thank CCDH, SurfMed and Claudia's family for their help and support with this current initiative.
